Classical Greece

Embark on a modern-day odyssey to pivotal archaeological sites as we trace the story of Ancient Greece from the Bronze Age to Classical glory. Beginning with three days in Athens, we continue into the mountains to Delphi, where we consult the oracle as all good explorers should before crossing the Gulf of Corinth to the Peloponnese. Here we find the land of Homer’s heroes, gods, kings and warriors captured forever in his epic poetry. We travel south through a beautiful countryside of mountains, plains and seascapes following the course of history from the coming of Rome and then early Christianity, visiting towards the end of our journey the impressive Byzantine and Frankish city of Mystras.  

This is a tour for anyone who has ever dreamed of standing at the starting line of the ancient Olympics, debating with Socrates, or following in the footsteps of Hercules. And it is the perfect opportunity to revisit the stories of the Iliad and Odyssey and marry them with the impressive material remains of the people who inspired, composed and believed in them.
